In researching the history of the area we have also faced the usual problem of house numbering. There was no such thing in the old days. The earliest numbering was introduced around about the time of the Second World War. This numbered the houses on the northern side of St John Street consecutively 1- 21. There was no numbering for the houses on the south side of the street or for those in Pullins Green. The full house numbering system was not introduced until about 1953. The plan above shows the houses as they were in early the 1970's before the main road was diverted to make St John Street and Pullins Green both cul-de-sacs.
